why it is so worth visit the outback of Anatolia…
Where are all the Asian people, the busy life and the smell of street food and pollution. The birds chirping and the quiet posh streets are still unfamiliar for me. The trip is over and I start to float into my “normal” life taking my time for the next steps. Home sweet home after 8 months of freedom. Join me next thursday for some good memories and fun stories!
My blog goes offline till the next journey …
Airport Hong kong update. Goodbye Asia. Waiting for the gate to open still 3h left. Kind of funny that I am having a stop in Moscow on my way back. Same route back just a bit faster this time. So that s how it feels like going home.
Macao 1 day trip
Much more than just a fancy casino island!
Back in magic Hong kong. 17 °C constant temperature inside and outside. Hong kong balcony view from the 49 th floor. I love it.
Taking my flight to Hong kong tomorrow! Am I really already so close to come back home? 10 more days in my favourite metropol city before I ll enter cold Germany.
Vietnam s heat is not anymore bearable. 37 C make me tired and lazy. Time for a climatic change!
family life & short visit Tay Ninh (100 km northwest of HCM)
Anonymous asked: Okay... I get hungry! What is the white stuff on the lower plates? And you made it -completely against your plans- to Cambodia? ;) Tom
Ricenoodles.
No I attended a traditional Cambodian wedding in Vietnam :). Still not eager to cross more borders. I do have a good time in HCM. :)
Soc Trang 4 days trip
Mai our nanny got invited to a marriage in her hometown and took me with her ! I am so lucky. Attended a Cambodian wedding, simple village life in the middle of the Mekong delta. Observed the Cambodian marriage rituals, ate a lot of food and got amused of the live music performance, refused to sing but danced till late night. So that s how you get married in Cambodian tradition. Free meal and music performance for the guests, a long tiring procedure for the bridal couple.
Mekong Delta - Phu Quoc
I revise. My arrival in Ho Chi Minh is the end of my low budget travel.
A 10 days short visit of my little brother beyond the caring wing of my aunt let us move on to the south. Mekong Delta, floating market and Phu Quoc Island!
I will not go more south than that and yes I will not cross any more boarders to enter more countries, at least not in this travel. And I will not search for a boat which brings me back to Europe, though I thought about for a short minute. My announcement to come home surprised so many and filled my mailbox with positive messages – thx for that! I thought Vietnam is a good country, if not the best for me to stop and turn around and go back.
Back in Saigon now !
Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City is the end of my travel and the beginning of a settle down for the coming 4 weeks. One week has already passed by and I discovered the city with the local speed on the back of a motorbike, guided from my aunt and cousins. The feeling of entering an unknown city, guided by your family, gets immediately completely different. Sweet, openhearted welcomed I move into my prepared room in the big house of my aunt. And the way it is staying with your family, there is never a lack of food or caring…
I listened to traditional & modern Vietnamese music concerts, ate Vietnamese hotpot with goat meat and heart got some new Vietnamese dresses tailored and learned how ride my motorbike.
HCM is magic, modern, huge and always busy loud, skyscraper and live concert bars meet Vietnamese haute couture and pure street markets. The streets are never empty. The weather is humid hot and makes you avoid the sun during midday. I visit my grandmother s tomb, my mother s birthplace and listen to a lot of stories which make this time be a profound touching one.
Btw - I m coming back home, earlier than thought. Flight is booked.
